Mitchell Thorson is a designer and front end developer who loves ideas, stories, the web, and good typography.

I studied graphic design in college, then spent 2 years working on videos and learning motion design and storytelling with with a small video production company. While doing that, I was learning about web design and falling in love with it. I spent a few years running my own design and web development business, where I got to work with some great people and I got to learn a bunch of stuff about writing code. Now I work at USA TODAY as part of the Story Engineering team, where I help tell interactive stories online.

I am married to the incredible Hannah Thorson, who is a painter.

About this site

Building my own website has been an opportunity to share my work, as well as hone my skills in things like HTML, CSS/SASS, a bit of JavaScript/JQuery, PHP, and responsive design. This site was built by hand using those technologies and a great little file-based CMS called Kirby.
